Horitsuba fics here.

Big damn table here.

“Rise and shine, Kuro-sama!” He groaned and rolled away from the window and cheerful voice. He was on break; there was absolutely no reason for him to be up before ten o’clock. He didn’t remember Fai being there when he went to bed the night before. “Get up, Kuro-chan,” the blonde tugging on his arm until he rolled onto his back. He figured if he was going to be awake, he might as well enjoy it and blindly lunged at the place the bed was sinking to.

Fai deftly stepped out of reach, and Kurogane groggily looked up at him. Something was definitely off when the blonde was there first thing in the morning and not offering him sex. “Why the hell are you in a suit?” He decided not to ask why his suit was hanging on the outside of his closet.

“We R.S.V.P’d to Syaoran-kun and Sakura-chan’s wedding this morning.”

“I did no such thing.” He simply did not see himself agreeing to go to a student’s wedding. Especially when it was on school grounds and he was supposed to be on break. He felt the thin body flop down on the bed next to him.

“I had a feeling you would forget to R.S.V.P., so I took the liberty of writing your name down as my date.” He cursed the man; now they would be expecting him, and if he did not show up would whine about how he was not there for however many years it took them to get through university. He felt a hand resting lightly on his hip. “Kuro-tan, can we adopt them now?”

“It’s still illegal,” he mumbled and tried to will himself back to sleep. He could always conveniently hide from the two of them while they were at university. The campus was huge; it would not be that difficult.

“Up, Kuro-pyon.” He was shoved mercilessly out of the bed, and he glared at the man walking around the foot of the bed and out the door. “I’ll make breakfast while you’re getting dressed,” in the tone that suggested Kurogane had better well listen to him or he was going to live to regret it later. Fai had the capabilities to make his life a living hell.

He pushed himself to his feet and got changed. Of course when two of the students were getting married the blonde was going to start talking about children again. He wondered why the scientist was so adamant about the adoption issue when he still refused to tell Kurogane anything about his life and there was the matter of the blonde’s current relationship status with Ashura to be cleared up. He wondered if it would be years before he decided how to handle that situation. Months certainly had not helped him get any more information or any more confidence in the blonde’s fidelity.

“Your breakfast is on the table,” Fai told him as he came back into the room and walked over to him. Thin hands reached up and began to straighten his tie. Blue eyes remained focused on the task. “We wouldn’t want to be late for our children’s big day.”

Kurogane decided the blonde needed a haircut so he would not longer be able to hide behind those damn bangs. “They aren’t our children.” Fai smoothed his hand down the length of Kurogane’s tie and simply walked out of the room. Under the blonde’s current mood, that probably had not been the best thing to say. But they couldn’t exactly adopt any children when Kurogane was so unsure of where Fai’s loyalties were. With a sigh, he picked up his jacket and followed the waif into the other room.

Fai had made far too much food once again, he realized as he sat down at the lone plate. Fai pulled another chair close to his and plopped down. “Why aren’t you eating?” he asked suspiciously as he picked up a fork.

“I ate before I came here this morning.” Which didn’t explain the way he was currently eyeing Kurogane’s food like a starved man.

“Don’t lie to me.” He picked up a piece of toast and shoved the corner of it into the blonde’s mouth. Once Fai cooperated and bit down, he pulled his hand away.

“I can’t hide anything from you, can I?” Kurogane rose and pulling another plate from the cupboard, transferred half the food from his plate to the second one and deposited the plate in front of the blonde.

“We’re not going anywhere until you eat,” he ordered as he sat back down. Fai smiled at him briefly before he turned his full attention to his breakfast.

“I never knew Kuro-sama cared so much.” Kurogane ignored him and silently ate his own breakfast, hoping the other teacher would take the hint and follow his example. He did, at the very least, start poking the food with his fork before eventually stabbing a bit of pancake and lifting it hesitantly to his mouth. Kurogane wondered if he should be worried that the blonde seemed so reluctant to eat his own cooking. Eventually, Fai did manage to eat about half of what Kurogane had given him which he counted as a small victory since the blonde rarely seemed to eat anything at all. “We should get going if we plan on adopting them before the wedding,” Fai said as he stood up and cleared off their plates. “I’ll drive.”

“We are not adopting them,” Kurogane growled in response as he pulled his jacket on. “And why do you get to drive?”

“Silly Kuro-tan, I’m the only one with a car.” Fai grabbed his keys off the table as he walked out the door, Kurogane following closely behind him. Maybe he could still convince the blonde to let him drive if he tried the entire way downstairs. Before he could finish formulating his argument, Fai interjected, “Besides, it’s tacky to take a motorcycle to a wedding. You’ll get your suit dirty on the way there.” Fai turned around and gave him a brief kiss while playing with the bottom of Kurogane’s tie, fingers brushing lightly against his stomach. “And you do look so handsome in that suit and tie.” Before Kurogane could respond by grabbing on to that thin waist and dragging the man back up stairs, Fai had turned around and continued down the stairs.

He tried to make one last appeal as they were crossing the parking lot to the blonde’s car. “Can I at least drive?” trying not to sound hopeful. He knew it was a lost cause; Fai would let Kurogane drive his car the day Kurogane allowed Fai to operate his bike.

“Not happening,” Fai told him as he unlocked the door. “Just get in already or we’re going to be late.”

“Not with the way you drive,” he muttered as he slammed the door. He made sure to buckle his seat belt as the blonde tore out of the parking space. “Will you slow down?” He was certain Fai’s driving was the only thing that had ever made him seriously fear for his life, and he clutched tightly at the door. The only time slow was in the man’s vocabulary was under poor weather conditions. “We’re going to be late if you get pulled over as well,” he tried to reason, well, yell.

“Sorry, Kuro-chi, I can’t hear you. Hey, do you think we can adopt Sakura and Syaoran?”

“No!” It might have been just his imagination, but he was fairly certain Fai started driving faster.

Ten minutes later, he was just grateful to be standing on solid ground again, and made a valiant effort to keep his shaking legs from collapsing. “It normally takes me twenty minutes to get here.”

He could never understand some students; they went to high school there, got married on school grounds, and then attended university there as well. He was convinced the chairlady hand-picked a few students and placed a spell on them so they would remain at Horitsuba forever.

“I wouldn’t have had to drive so fast if somebody would have gotten out of bed this morning. Come on,” Fai stepped over to him and grabbed his wrist, pulling him to the place where the ceremony was going to be held. “Let’s go congratulate Syaoran-kun and find a place to sit.” He glared at the hand on his arm as he was dragged across the campus; granted even the elementary children knew what was going on between them by this point, but it was still a public place and people other than those attending the ceremony were lurking around. Eventually he realized he was being dragged to the altar where a nervous looking Syaoran was standing next to those two weird looking boys who were now attending university and a third one he vaguely recognized as one of the few students who had gotten an A in his kendo class. “Syaoran-kun, as your mother, I would like to tell you how happy I am that you and Sakura-chan are getting married.” Wait a minute, did the blonde just refer to himself as the kid’s mother? “I’m sure your father has a few things he would like to say to you as well.”

Kurogane had not noticed anyone else approaching them and looked around to see who the boy’s father might possibly be. A pointy elbow jabbed him in the ribs. “Ow, you were talking about me?” Fai continued smiling demurely forward. “Kid, get out while you still can,” which promptly earned him another jab in the side. “Ow.”

“What does he know? He never got married.” Syaoran nodded at them both slowly before excusing himself and turned to talk to his groomsmen. “Why would you say something like that?” Fai scolded in his ear as he dragged him down the aisle to the third row of chairs. “You should be proud that the two of them have a happy relationship.” Of course, he knew they would have a happy marriage; the sun was politely shining on their wedding so they could have a nice outdoor ceremony. There was only the slightest of breezes, just enough to cool someone off, but not strong enough to cause problems.

“As for the me not being married part, I can’t marry you, so if I were married, it would be to someone else and you wouldn’t like that,” he whispered harshly as they sat down. “And why aren’t you going to check on your little princess?” he asked, thinking it was odd the man had nothing to impart to her before the ceremony. She had always seemed the dearest out of those girls he doted on.

“And ruin the impression of her walking down the aisle. I think not. Why aren’t you getting ready to escort her?”

“Because her father is standing right there!” gesturing to the man he vaguely remembered as being her father. He had only met him once and the only reason he had left any impression was because Kurogane had wondered how such a bookish man could have possibly been that girl’s father.

"You two are setting a horrible example, bickering like an old married couple," Yuuko interjected as she sat down behind them. He turned to glare at her; she always seemed to be invading his personal life.

"Hey, Kuro-rin, can we adopt them now?"

"No!"

"Will you two be quiet? I came here to enjoy a wedding, not babysit." He almost offered a sharp retort but decided against it. Besides, more people were arriving now, and he did not want to be remembered as the angry man who had caused a scene at Sakura and Syaoran's wedding. But God help him, if Fai did not remove his hand from Kurogane's thigh soon, he was going to kill something. Long fingers started stroking the inside of his thigh which made him twitch.

"Ah, I think they are going to get started soon," Fai whispered in his ear while giving his thigh a final squeeze. The best man seemed to be giving a last bit of advice to the condemned Syaoran before leaving him with the pastor at the altar. Fai waved encouragingly to him.

"Why are they having a western wedding?" he leaned over to ask in the blonde's ear as the music and procession started.

“It was Sakura's idea to make Syaoran feel more comfortable since he's only been in Japan for a few years." Fai latched onto his arm as Tomoyo walked by on Ryuoh's arm. "Kuro-sama, don't you think Tomoyo-chan, Yuzuriha-chan and Himawari-chan look so pretty?" He grunted in response to appease the man; he was no expert on dresses and really did not care what they were wearing. Luckily, he was saved from commenting further by the arrival of Sakura. "Hyuu, Sakura-chan looks so beautiful." The man standing next to Fai was giving them odd looks and kept glancing down to where Fai was attached to Kurogane's arm. Maybe he was a family member of the happy couple.
Kurogane covertly flicked him off, and the man stopped gawking. "Ne, Kuro-tan, can we adopt them now?"

"No," he whispered as they sat back down and the ceremony began. It was the beginning of a trend that lasted throughout the ceremony; Fai periodically would lean up to ask if they could adopt the children, and Kurogane would answer with a resounding "No," which grew more and more exasperated as time went on. He wondered if the blonde was even trying to enjoy the ceremony or just concentrating on pestering Kurogane.

It did, however, cause him to sink deep into thought during the reception, ignoring most of the people around him except for the brief moment of panic when Fai decided he was going to dance with Souma. He struggled for the better part of two hours trying to determine what it was the blonde was trying to tell him.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

"Souma!" She had been at the school making use of some of their equipment that she did not have in her home when Tomoyo came running into the room and grabbed her arm. "You have to see this; it's very amusing."

Souma leaned the sword she had been using beside the door as Tomoyo dragged her by the wrist out of the room and towards one of the other training rooms. Kurogane had set up a full length mirror in the middle of the room and seemed to be offering it a stuffed puppy. "What is he doing?" she asked as he pulled the toy back to his chest.

"I'm not sure, but it's absolutely adorable. Why don't I have my camera today?" He had not noticed the two of them lurking in the doorway.

"Here, have a puppy," he said, extending it to the mirror. "Move in with me? No, that's no good." He pulled the animal back and tried it again. "I bought you a puppy. Move in with me." He sighed and let his arm drop back to his side. "No, that sounds like I'm trying to bribe him." He stomped around the room a bit and, returning to the mirror, took a deep breath. "I bought this puppy for us. Will you please move in with me?"

"I think he's planning on asking Fai-san to move in with him."

"With a stuffed puppy?"

"I'm going to trust him and assume he's going to get a real puppy."

"Oh, how romantic!"

Kurogane groaned. "It's no good. It always sounds wrong."

"We should help him," and before Souma could stop her, Tomoyo bounded happily to where Kurogane was.
"Kurogane-sensei, are you planning on asking Fai-sensei to move in with you by giving him a puppy?"
To his credit, he did not seem angry to find them there, but he did hide the stuffed animal behind his back.

"Maybe." He watched Souma warily as she joined Tomoyo.

"Please tell me you are going to have an actual dog and you are not going to hold it by the neck like that."

"Of course I'm going to have a real puppy." Souma was impressed he was going to such lengths; he must have been really serious.

"Kurogane-sensei, we’re going to help you with this."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

A week later, after a few lengthy conversations with Yuzuriha, he had finally decided on a puppy he thought Fai would like and had just managed to find a breeder that was currently selling them, a black Cocker Spaniel, and had invited the man over for dinner which Tomoyo and Souma had prepared for them earlier in the day. He had tried pacing while he was waiting for the blonde, but the puppy kept following him and getting underneath his feet. Eventually, he gave up and decided to sit on the couch and wait for the man. The puppy struggled to get onto the couch and crawled over to start licking his hand. "I'm not your owner," he told the puppy as it crawled into his lap. The puppy whimpered and placed its paws on his chest.

"Kuro-sama!" He removed the puppy from his lap, placing it softly on the couch and went to open the door. "Sorry I'm late. Traffic was horrible." Fai leaned up to give him a quick kiss as the blonde stepped inside. "Is there anything special you wanted me over here for?"

“Actually, yes.” He was a bit surprised the blonde had yet to notice the whimpering, black fluff ball rolling around on the couch, but Fai seemed to be far too involved in nibbling Kurogane’s neck. “Close your eyes and wait here,” he said, taking the moment to step away from the blonde. He had rehearsed what Souma and Tomoyo had told him to do countless times. All he needed to do was relax.

Fai obediently shut his eyes, a small smirk forming at the corner of his lips. “Am I going to like this, Kuro-pyon?”

“I hope so,” he muttered as he pulled the puppy off the couch. He cradled it in his arms as he carried it back over to the waiting blonde. He took a deep breath to prepare himself. “Okay, open you eyes.”

“Aww, she’s adorable!” Fai, as Souma and Tomoyo had predicted, reached over and took the puppy out of his arms. “You’re just the sweetest little thing ever.” The blonde planted a kiss on the puppy’s nose, and she started licking his face. Fai giggled and nuzzled her again before turning her attention back to Kurogane. “Why is she here?”

“Well, I couldn’t find any children for sale, so I bought her for you,” he said, shuffling his feet around on the floor. It was only a matter of time before Fai looked at the tags on the collar.

Still cradling the puppy in one arm, Fai leaned up to give him another quick kiss. “Thank you, she’s adorable. Does she have a name yet?” Fai pulled away from him, and his hands sought out her tags. He noticed the subtle change in expression as the man read the tags. “Eh, Kuro-sama, if she’s supposed to be my dog, why does she have your address on the tags?”

‘Just ask him!’ he mentally kicked himself as he was put at a loss for words as those beautiful eyes stared questionably up at him. He wanted it, he bought the dog for that reason, he realized he had wanted it for months. Why had he listened to Souma and Tomoyo; why had he not just deposited the puppy and ask the blonde immediately? How hard could it possibly be? He was amazed how difficult it had become once he feared the man might say no, and given how little he knew about Fai, he thought there might be a good chance he would refuse. He bit his lower lip and stared back at the man, trying not to let his worry show.

“Kuro-sama, are you asking me to move in with you?”

All he could do was nod and hope for the best.

~I'm a horrible, horrible person for ending it there when I have no idea when I'll get around to writing the sequel. So you don't hate me too much...

Fai's puppy!! By the way, if this is your picture, let me know and I'll credit you. I found it floating around on my harddrive.

Kyah~! Torture-fic! ^_________________^

I love any KuroFai fics in relation to weddings so this was a real treat. (squeal)

If Kurogane was ever to propose to Fail, I could totally see him doing something dorky like rehearsing in front of a mirror like that. But why did you have to make him chicken out towards the end?! He should have just said it and then cut the fic so it would have been an even more evil cliff-hanger! (^o^) Although I got some cute mental images picturing a shy Kuro-Chan. (nosebleed)

*-* Aaaw... So warm and fuzzy... Loved it. Your Horitsuba series just has me hook, line, and sinker on all parts.

So sweet, Kurorin! Poor thing, so nervous. And Fay's constant asking about adopting xD Adorable.

I just wanna huggle cute things and co now.

I really enjoyed Kurogane practicing offering Fai the puppy. XD The part with the tags was clever: Tomoyo's idea, I'm guessing.

Well, I couldn’t find any children for sale, so I bought her for you - best line ever.

You don't seem so certain that the answer is going to be yes. And if Fai was simply going to say yes right away, wouldn't it have made more sense for me to throw it in on this fic? Why would I make an entire second fic just for him to say yes?

*enjoys torture* XD

You ended it THERE? *headdesk* Oh well, that adorable puppy is very affective in taking the edge off of that cliff-hanger. Kurogane was the cutest thing here, rehearsing in front of a mirror with a stuffed puppy. X3 I guess I'll just mentally note the sequel for this as one of the many future fics of yours that I'm anticipating.

Never fear, the sequel is on my list. It's just a matter of when I get around to actually writing it. ^.^;;;;

My question is... where did he get the stuffed puppy?

I did think making him practice in front of the mirror would be cute, but obviously he's not going to practice with the real puppy. The poor thing would be traumatized and would never want to see him again.

My question is... where did he get the stuffed puppy?

You know what? Sakura TOTALLY let him borrow it from her. It took him forever to actually ask her for it, and he made her promise she would never tell a soul. It was a gift from Syaoran, so he had to be sure to give it back to her when he was done. She had no idea what he needed it for, but she thought it would be impolite to ask.

Also, I DID get an e-mail from that girl today, complete with a lovely little analysis (read: denial) of your Post of Doom. Let me know is you'd like to see it.

So adorable! Love the fanfic. Even if it's AU. But I'm glad it's pretty close to canon and doesn't really confuse me about the settings. The way those two interact is just perfect! Love the fic. And it's so cute~!
The puppy has pretty eyes.

Fai is the master of persistent annoyance for poor Kuro-sama. :DD

Btw, I WANT THAT PUPPY. To put her beside my dog, Sasami. She's just as cute and cuddly, only white (and different species)~ And LMAO the fact that Kuro gave Fai a pup to raise and take care of because they can't adopt children - totally remninded me of how my mom cares for our doggy as if she were a baby. But really. xD

Mom: *cuddles and talks to Sasami like to a small child*
Me: ....mom? Have you thought about ever giving birth to another child besides me?
Mom: Nah...besides: dogs are much more lovable, understanding, friendly, loyal--*keeps on with the list*
Me:.....T__T;;; oh..

Duh anyway. xD I hope Fai will say "yes" to Kurogane or else the world would crash down on poor daddy...;______; And they should move to The Netherlands because marrige for homosexual couples is legally excepted there. :3
