Big damn table here.

It was one of those stormy nights in Outo. The doggie duo had been forced to stay home from kiji hunting that night after Fai had patiently explained to them that metal swords, electricity, and wet warriors were not an equation for flowery happiness. Kurogane had tried to go anyway, but Sakura begged Syaoran not to go with him, and Kurogane was distracted by Fai holding a small funeral for him over in the corner with only Mokona in attendance. A few hours later after some games Fai and Mokona had suggested that Sakura and Syaoran seemed interested enough in and Kurogane had absolutely refused to play at first, the four humans had gone to bed, leaving Mokona alone in the café, listening to the storm get worse overhead. A nearby flash of lightning illuminated the café, casting menacing shadows around the room. Mokona cringed and jumped when a loud pelt of thunder soon followed. It went running upstairs and darted into the first occupied room.

“Kuro-rin!” Mokona jumped onto the bed next to the sleeping ninja and tried to snuggle against his chest. “I don’t like thunder.”

“Go away,” the ninja mumbled, and Mokona was suddenly rolling across the floor until it collided with the wall connecting Kurogane’s room to Syaoran’s.

“Kuro-pyon is mean!” Mokona called as it bounded out of the room, tripping over its feet at another particularly loud burst of thunder. “Wai!” With renewed energy, Mokona flung into Fai’s room and onto the back of the sleeping mage. “Fai!” The blonde rolled over and Mokona hopped into his arms, snuggling against the fuzzy shirt he was wearing. “Fai, I’m scared of the thunder.” It nuzzled closer to the blonde who yawned and patted Mokona reassuringly on the head. Mokona whimpered at another loud peal of thunder and shivered in Fai’s arms.

“Hyuu~. This is a bad one.” Mokona leaned into the hand that was scratching it behind the ears. “I wonder if Sakura-chan and Syaoran-kun are doing alright,” Fai said as the room flashed brightly and the building shook. Mokona was more worried about Mokona than the children and clung tighter to Fai in case the mage should try to leave him. “I should check on them,” Fai said, standing up and sliding his feet into his slippers.

“Fai…”

“Don’t worry, Mokona. I’ll protect you,” and from a flash of lightning Mokona saw Fai smiling down reassuringly. As long as it was allowed to stay in Fai’s arms, it supposed Fai could go check on the children. Mokona shuddered every time the thunder crashed over head. Even the rain pelting on the roof was starting to sound sinister, like thousands of tiny demons trying to get at them.

“Sakura-chan?” Fai called lightly, tapping on her door before he stepped inside, Mokona still enclosed safely in his arms. Both children were sitting wide-eyed on the bed, Sakura with her hands folded in her lap. “Aa~! Syaoran-kun is here as well.”

“I heard something thump against my wall, so I wanted to make sure the princess was okay.” He had the grim look of determination on his face, and Mokona wondered if Syaoran should have been visited first. He didn’t seem to be afraid of the storm.

“I was glad he did though. I don’t like this storm.” She squeaked at the next crash of thunder.

“My, my,” Fai said as Mokona continued to shiver in his arms. Mokona liked the storm even less and just wanted to crawl into bed and cuddle with someone. “All three children are afraid of the storm. We can’t have that now, can we?”

Mokona was placed tenderly on one of Fai’s shoulders, and the blonde took the two children by the arms. They were half-dragged out the room and down the hall to Kurogane’s room. “Fai-san, I don’t think this is such a good idea,” Syaoran said, and he tried to slip out of Fai’s grasp. Mokona thought it seemed like a rather brilliant idea, mostly because its attempts had failed and Fai would be much more likely to succeed.

“Nonsense, Kuro~tan will simply have to protect us all from the storm!” He somehow managed to launch them all simultaneously through the air and into Kurogane’s bed. Sakura landed between Kurogane and Fai, Mokona had somehow been transported in midair into the princess’ arms, and Syaoran was on the other side of Kurogane. Of course, Fai had kept a hold of both children which put the five of them into a rather awkward cuddle situation.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?! You all have your own rooms!” Kurogane growled. Mokona thought he might be potentially more dangerous than the thunder, and dropped between Sakura and Fai. It got the impression Kurogane rightly blamed the situation on Fai and would have been trying to strangle the mage if it weren’t for the fact that he couldn’t get around Sakura when he was pinned down by Fai holding onto Syaoran’s arm. Syaoran looked like he was going to be sick.

“The children are all afraid of the storm,” Fai said with a grin Mokona thought was decidedly malicious. “I thought Big Puppy would be able to protect them all.”

“I am not your damn dog!”

“Aa~ Look, Sakura-chan is asleep again already. She must feel safe around you, Kuro-rin.”

“Don’t call me by those idiotic names,” he growled, but Mokona noticed he was much quieter about it the second time. Mokona snuggled down between Sakura and Fai, content to sleep through the storm with its family surrounding it, listening to the quiet tones of Kurogane’s and Fai’s banter which was music to its ears in comparison to the thunder.

It feels weird not cross-posting something on the KuroFai board...

It felt very weird not xposting it on KuroFai... I didn't even xpost the vampire-Fai one there, though I suppose technically I could since it is Fai-centric...

I'm so drawing a picture of that end scene with them all in Kurogane's bed XDDDDD Hey when are we gonna start that ink thing any way? o_O Draw away. It will be a good exercise. Plus I would love to see it. ^.^ And the ink thing will start.... probably after I yell at the other moderator. I yelled at one, she said she would yell at the other, but I'm not sure if it's been done yet.
