Author's Notes: Be gentle. This is my first time playing with this fandom.

Sorata walked with his hands stuffed deep in his pockets. The sky was dark, and he kept glancing up nervously at the gray clouds, hoping it would not rain on him before his very important date. He also kept peering over his shoulder to make sure his honey was not following him; he had the distinct feeling she would not approve of the neighborhood he was in. The shop’s signs were hand-painted with bright colors and crude letters. Vendors aggressively tried to get passersby to look at their wares, and Sorata was quite certain some of the stores contained more than questionable content.

He hadn’t wanted Arashi to know what he was doing. He found a grumpy-looking gym teacher to cover his last class of the day so he could leave early to go on his mission. The man had fierce eyes, and Sorata was sure he could impose silence on the students about his trip until he was ready to present the results to her over dinner.

He walked a little faster and hunched his shoulders against the cold. He had to be quick, or else he would be late. He had thought about a small mainstream jeweler right next to the restaurant, but when he revealed his intentions to his students, one bright-eyed girl, with short hair and a wolf companion few others seemed to see, had given him a great tip. He hoped it would still be there, and his efforts would not have been wasted. The student said she had seen it there over a week ago. He pulled the piece of paper, with the directions and name of the store on it, out of his pocket and checked them again. He was getting close, and he wondered if he should be a bit gentler the next time he was grading an essay by that girl.

He found the store, marked by a large off-white sign with dark blue lettering and a small butterfly in the corner. He stepped inside, glancing around to see what type of store he had wandered into. The store didn’t seem to specialize in anything, with a wide variety of items on the shelves, most of them looking like antiques. A woman with long black hair was sitting behind the counter, sipping from a bottle of sake. She was wearing an exquisite kimono, and she smiled mysteriously at him.

“You’re looking for something for a very special woman, aren’t you?” she asked, putting her bottle down on the counter.

“Yes, I am,” he said, looking around for anything shiny. “One of my students told me you have a diamond I can give to my honey.” He made his way closer to the counter, hoping she had not already sold it to someone else. He was already in danger of being late, which wouldn’t make Arashi happy.

“I have just the perfect thing for you,” she said as she pulled a velvet box from behind the counter. He held his breath as she turned the box towards him and slowly pulled back the lid. “Will this suffice?”

The box held an engagement ring on a silver band with a diamond flanked by two sapphires. The student had been right; the ring was beautiful and it had a look of antiquity. “I’ll take it.” He gave the money he had been saving to the owner of the shop and checked his watch. He was dangerously close to being late for his date. “Thank you very much.” He scooped the box off the counter, closed it and dropped it in his pocket before dashing back out into the street. He took a few shortcuts, jumping over a few stagnant puddles in back alleys.

He wasn’t late when he arrived at the restaurant, but Arashi was already sitting at the table, looking through a menu. He sat down across from her with a smile and picked up his own menu. “Evening, honey. You look lovely tonight,” he complimented her, looking down at her red dress that he had bought her for a birthday gift the year before.

“Would you care to explain why you were late when you left work early today?” she said without looking up at him.

He wondered what happened to the gym teacher he had left to cover for him. Perhaps he had been distracted by a romantic rendezvous of his own. Before he could answer Arashi, their waiter asking them if they were ready to order interrupted them. Once that had been taken care of and he had ordered the most expensive bottle of wine he could afford, he smiled back across the table at Arashi. She didn’t press the issue, but she did keep glancing suspiciously across the table at him. He cupped the velvet box in his pocket and grinned while he waited for the wine to arrive. Once both glasses were filled, he cleared his throat and pulled the ring out of his pocket.

“Honey, I’ve been thinking about the two of us a lot recently, and I can’t imagine my life without you.” He set the box on the table and opened it, pushing it towards her. “Arashi, will you marry me?”

“Is that why you abandoned your students this afternoon?” she asked, looking down at the ring.

He nervously placed his hand behind his head. “I promise you, that won’t happen again.” He wondered which student it was, or maybe it was that gym teacher; he looked like a shady type of character. Perhaps he was planning to steal his honey for himself.

“Yes, I will marry you,” Arashi said as she pulled the ring out of the box and placed it on her finger.

“That’s great, honey!” He reached across the table and grabbed her hand in both of his. “So when should we plan for the wedding? May? June? Or maybe we should wait until next September?”

“Why wait?”

Sorata dropped Arashi’s hand in surprise. “Do you mean you want to elope?” He had never expected her to suggest something like that.

“Not that. Why wait so long? Neither one of us has any family to invite, so we can have the wedding next month at the school.”

“That’s a great idea, Arashi!” He leaned over the table to give her a quick kiss, fast enough so that she wouldn’t have to feel embarrassed with all the people around. He was going to have to find a way to thank the student who had told him about the ring, and even the gym teacher who had covered his class. Of course, he was going to have to give an extra special thank you to the woman who ran the shop where he bought the ring.

*wibble* This is so them. XD Sora's such an eager fella, and Arashi's her outwardly cool calm self.

Can't leave out the KuroFai entirely, can you? XD
